Description of awareness programme

A Joint Awareness session was conducted by the DNBS, RBI, New Delhi along with officials of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and SBI Cards & Payments Services Pvt. Ltd. on November 28, 2017 for the officials of the Indian Coast Guards, New Delhi. Shri Dinesh Rajaputhran, DIG, Indian Coast Guards, inaugurated the session and highly appreciated RBI’s unique endeavor on sensitizing their officials with nuances of investing their hard earned money. General Manager, RBI, New Delhi, in his opening remark, explained the role and functions of RBI as also various aspect of NBFCs. He cautioned the audience about high returns assured by fraudulent entities and shared modus operandi adopted by fraudsters to dupe the common man. DGM, RBI informed about the grievance redressal mechanism for banks available to the common man, i.e. Banking Ombudsman Scheme and SACHET portal for grievances related to other than banks or when not sure whom to approach. He also apprised the audience with the mandate of SLCC, Sachet Website and also emphasized on being vigilant while dealing with money matters. AGM, SEBI covered various aspects of their area of operation including Securities Market, Mutual Funds, concept of return and inflation, etc. Representative from SBI Cards & Payments Services Pvt. Ltd. apprised the participants with security features of Debit/Credit cards and shared measures to be taken care of while using Debit/Credit Cards and Internet Banking. Pamphlets on “Points to remember while investing savings” prepared by RBI were distributed among the audience. During the session, DGM, DNBS resolved various queries of officers concerning the Banking sector and other financial queries. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by DIG, Indian Coast Guards.
