As part of its awareness initiative, the regional DNBS at Bhubaneswar RO launched a district wide distribution of awareness leaflets in collaboration with India Posts in Kandhamal district of Odisha on June 28, 2017. To mark the beginning of the door-to-door distribution of leaflets through Postal Department, an awareness camp was organised at Raikia village of the district involving about 200 villagers, the local public representatives and members from Media. Participating in the program, DGM, DNBS mentioned about incidents reported from various parts of the State of gullible public being duped by fraudulent entities. He advised the public to verify the antecedents of entities before parting with their hard earned money and cautioned them not to respond to any SMS/ e-mail/ facebook / whatsapp message, etc., regarding lottery or prize money, and asking for details of bank accounts/ PAN No./ AADHAAR No., etc. DGM requested the local representatives present at the meeting such as the Sarpanch and Gram Sevak to spread such message far and wide. The Post Master General in his address, appreciated the efforts of RBI, Bhubaneswar in sensitizing the public against financial frauds and highlighted the role of India Post as an essential link in spreading financial awareness. Moreover, his address to the villagers in local Kui language received appreciation from the participants.
