Awareness programs for the public

FOUR TALUKAS OF MANGALURU DISTRICT, KARNATAKA
The seventh Public Awareness (PA) program under the aegis of SLCC, Karnataka was held in four talukas of Mangaluru district (Mangaluru city, Moodabidre, Puttur and Uppinangadi on 02-03 November 2016. The program which is essentially targeted at the common investing public alerting them on the perils of investing in fraudulent and unauthorised deposit schemes/ multi level marketing schemes etc. inter-alia included the staging of a skit and yakshagana (a local folk art form), followed by a question/answer session for clarifying matters. In order to ascertain how well the message has percolated to the target audience a small quiz was held at the end of the programme and the respondents who gave the correct answers got token gifts. The event got a wide coverage in the local print media. The program was a joint effort of RBI, Government of Karnataka, Economic Offence Wing of Karnataka Police and SEBI etc. The district administration was actively involved in conducting pre-event publicity campaigns.
